Android TV Remote · Last updated 3 August 2026

This policy explains what Android TV Remote (“the app”) does with information about you. It covers the Android app com.androidtvremote.app and the iOS app of the same name.

The app is published by DROIDTV. You can reach us at omnistackdev@gmail.com.

The short version

We do not run any servers, and we never receive your data. The app talks to your television directly over your own Wi‑Fi network, and everything it remembers stays on your phone. The one exception is advertising, which is served by Google and described in full below.

What the app stores on your device

The following is saved in the app's private storage on your phone. It is not transmitted anywhere, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

WhatWhy
The televisions found on your network — their names and local network addresses So you can pick one without searching again each time
Any name you have given a television yourself So your own labels survive a restart
Which televisions you have completed pairing with So you are not asked to pair again on every launch. Only the address is recorded; no key material is stored
Whether haptic feedback is switched on Your preference

Access to your local network

The app looks for televisions on the network your phone is connected to, and sends button presses straight to the one you choose. This is the entire function of the app and it is why it asks for local network access.

It does not scan for, catalogue, or report anything else on your network. The addresses it finds are used on your phone and are never sent to us or to anyone else.

Pairing and security

Pairing uses the television's own protocol, which is protected by mutual TLS. The connection between your phone and your television is encrypted. The app carries a client certificate that is the same in every copy of the app; it identifies the app to your television, not you.

Because the app has no accounts and no servers, there is nothing about you for us to lose. Data on your phone is protected by your device's own security.

Advertising

The app is free and is paid for by advertising, served through Google AdMob. Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects for this purpose. We do not receive it, and we cannot identify you from it.

For advertising, Google may collect and process:

What Google does with this is set out in Google's Business Data Responsibility page and its policy on how it uses data from sites and apps that use its services.

You can limit or reset advertising personalisation on your device at any time: on Android under Settings → Privacy → Ads, and on iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Consent, if you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland

Before any advert is requested, the app asks for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform, a certified consent management platform. Until you have answered, no advertising request is made at all.

You can change your answer at any time in the app, under Settings → Advert privacy options. If you decline, the app continues to work in full; you simply see no adverts.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, or to object to it.

Because we hold nothing about you, most of these rights are exercised directly: uninstalling the app removes everything it has stored. For data collected by Google for advertising, please use the Google links above, or contact us and we will point you to the right place.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it, and the current version will always be available at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
